University of Hohenheim in cooperation with the Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology and the Robert-Bosch-Hospital

Upcoming Course
Module: 2201-270
Organizers: Dr. Oliver Burk (IKP); Prof. Dr. Walter Aulitzky (RBK);
Prof. Dr. Schwab (IKP); Prof. Dr. Blum (University of Hohenheim)
Date: End of winter semester 2018/2019 (2 weeks)
Targetgroup: Biology students (Bachelor, University of Hohenheim). The number of participants is limited to 12 students
Time: 9.30 h till approximately 15.30 h
Venue: Seminary room and laboratories of the Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch-Institute of Clinical Pharmacology, Auerbachstr. 112, Stuttgart
Aim: The aim of this course is to present a hands-on training on different aspects (both theoretical and practical) of molecular medicine and pharmacology for biologists.
Content: There will be a mixture of lectures and frequent practical sessions. Topics that will be addressed include:
  • Theoretical basics on molecular medicine, pharmacology, pharmacogenomics and drug metabolism
  • Basic knowledge about drug transport and drug response
  • Basics of malignant transformation and biological effects of antitumor drugs
  • Principles of planning and implementation of clinical trials
  • Application of various techniques in molecular biology, such as genotyping, transfection of cell lines, etc.
  • Working with different cellular model systems for analyzing effects of antitumor drugs
  • Examining drug metabolism and transport using HPLC techniques
